Unlike quartz sand, the sys fibers are significantly softer, which is why we need 100 times more fibers on a grip tape than grains of sand on a standard grip. That means that the fibers do not rip but the shoe slowly destroys the fibers. This ensures a high level of friction, but your shoes last significantly longer.
